A Case of Rapidly Occurring Intraoperative Clouding of Hydrophilic Multifocal Intraocular Lens

Abstract
|
|
|
Purpose: To report a case of intraoperative clouding of hydrophilic multifocal intraocular lens (Lentis Mplus¢ç LS-313,
Oculentis GmbH., Berlin, Germany) during cataract surgery.
Case summary: A 69-year-old woman underwent intraocular lens exchange in her left eye due to clouding of an intraocular lens occurred intraoperatively. This phenomenon was caused by the rapid change in temperature of a very cold IOL being implanted into the eye.
Conclusions: It is important to prevent a rapid temperature change during intraocular lens implantation. Particularly in the country that have winter season and fluctuating temperatures, careful caution will be necessary.
